Inter User Group Competition Judging

The final juding for the MSDN Canada Inter User Group Competition will be held at this meeting. We will see recorded presentations of each group's entry and then vote for a winner.
The Challenge
The purpose of the software design challenge is to highlight and reward
excellence in the field of student programming. This year the focus is
working with mobile devices, smart systems, and .NET to create software
solutions that improve the quality of developer life.
Competition Eligibility
- The competition is open only for .NET Usergroups currently registered with
MSDN Canada
- One team per usergroup
- Teams can consist of between one and ten individuals.
- All team members must be from the same usergroup
1st Place Prize:
- All team members will receive a SPOT Watch / Pocket PC + FM Transmitter
- The winning usergroup will get a Microsoft Sponsored BBQ Event in May/June
timeframe.
- Usergroup Leader or selected representative will be sponsored for Dev Teach
conference in Montreal, to present their usergroup solution to the developer
community.
Judging

The judges for this competition will be the user
group members attending the final event

The judging event will be one simultaneous event
for all Canadian .NET user groups for each of the East, West and Central
regions

Each team will get 10 – 15 minutes to present
their solution which will be broadcasted to all Canadian user groups

After all teams have presented, each user group
will get 10 minutes to vote internally on their favorites and stack rank the
presented solutions

All user groups will tune in either via Microsoft
Messenger or Microsoft Live Meeting and give their vote on the top 10
solutions.
- The top solution receives 10 points
- Every sub sequential solution gets one point less.
- The points allocated by each user group must be announced in ascending order
- User groups are not allowed to award any points to their own team.
- Microsoft Canada will provide a suitable scoreboard in full view of audience
at all events.
- User groups will e mail their marks to Microsoft Canada before the first
group starts awarding points.
- The user group’s solution which obtains the highest number of points will
be awarded Microsoft Canada Best User group of 2005
- If there is a tie in between any number of solutions, the tie breaker will
be the vote from the MSDN team (this vote will be announced first)
As you can see from the event schedule below, we will kick off the event via
Live meeting, switch to Media Player and watch the video at the same time
(approximate time that is) and finally come back into Live Meeting to vote.

6:00 - 7:00 Party & Socialize
7:00 – 7:10 Introduction by MSDN Canada (Live Meeting)
7:10 – 8:30 Presentation “Movie” (Windows Media)
8:30 - 8:45 Groups Determine Their Vote
8:45 - 9:00 Voting and Announcing the Winner (Live Meeting)
THIS MEETING WILL BE RESTRICTED TO THE FIRST 80 PEOPLE WHO SIGN UP VIA EMAIL.
CONFIRMATION WILL BE EMAILED AND REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE.
