Understanding Garbage Collection
Rob Windsor, G6 Consulting
www.g6consulting.com
I know, you're thinking this session will be just what you need to cure that
bout of insomnia! While it's true that Garbage Collection is not a very sexy
topic it is one that many .NET developers (especially VB .NET developers) are
unfamiliar with. This session will discuss the inner workings of the Garbage
Collector and give you strategies to reduce the load put on it thus improving
the overall performance of your applications. Specifically we will cover how
Garbage Collection works, Finalizers, the Dispose pattern, Weak References and
some of the methods of the Garbage Collector object.
